Do Hand Sanitizers Cure Acne?
Instant hand and skin sanitizers are becoming more and more popular with products like Purell leading the way, but people need to take certain precautions before using these products in order to make sure it does not damage their skin and cause acne. While hand sanitizers might be great at killing bacteria, they also dry out skin in the process as a result of ethyl alcohol, one of the key ingredients. Ethyl Alcohol is known for its ability to kill bacteria, including bacteria that may cause viruses like the flu, but you must never attempt to use it on your face or even on your hands if they are already dry.
By putting hand sanitizer on your face, you are increasing your risk of developing acne (or making current acne breakouts worse) because it will dry up your very sensitive facial skin, which will result in your skin being irritated and acne forming. In addition to acne, your skin will turn red and become very itchy. Scratching will only make the acne develop even more, so using hand sanitizer on your face will make your problem worse in many, many ways.
If you are worried about your face being dirty and want to make sure it is clean in order to prevent acne breakouts, then the best thing you can do is use high quality acne products that are made with potent ingredients, but are designed especially for your face so that they will not damage your skin by drying it out or irritating it.
